Accra Hearts of Oak face a stern test this weekend as they take on Medeama SC in the BetPawa Premier League in Tarkwa.
It is a must-win game for Coach Slavko Matic’s men to maintain their position and also keep their title challenge hope alive after suffering shocking elimination from the MTN FA Cup in the hands of Dreams FC on Sunday.
Heading into the game, Hearts of Oak face a few setbacks as the likes of Caleb Amankwaa and Isaac Mensah are believed to be ruled out of the contest.
Caleb Amankwaa sustained an injury that saw him miss the MTN FA Cup Round of 32 games against Dreams FC on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Reports indicate that the former Aduana Stars defender has been ruled out for a month.
Elsewhere, their promising young attacker, Gideon Asante has started training after missing their FA Cup clash on Sunday due to injury. He is expected to travel with the team for the game against the Mauve and Yellow side.
The youngster, who joined from Tema XI is regarded as one of the most promising young attacking talents in the Phobian family, and he has a big future ahead of him.
He has featured in ten games – 574 overall in the Premier League this season.
Now, pressure mounts on Hearts of Oak coach Slavko Matic who has to turn things around for the club despite their depleted squad.
The Phobians have four of their key players (Gladson Awako, Konadu Yiadom, Seidu Suraj, and Dennis Korsah) in the Black Galaxies team in Algeria for the Africa Nations Championship.
The team is also yet to replace Daniel Afriyie Barnieh who has joined Swiss side FC Zurich.
They are currently 4th in the league table and the shortage of players has been a major concern this season.
