Asante Kotoko forward, Stephen Amankona is set to join his former club, Berekum Chelsea on a three-year deal after a fifteen-month stay in Kumasi with the Porcupines.
Amankona was sensational and undoubtedly one of the best players in the league for Chelsea, scoring 15 goals in all competitions in the 2020-21 season coupled with 7 assists, alongside three man-of-the-match awards. He quickly climbed up the Chelsea ranks until Kotoko signed him in 2021.
But has failed to fit into the Porcupine Warriors setup, leading to several awkward moments.
He has appeared briefly for the club in eight Premier League fixtures so far this season, however, has suffered to enjoy enough playing time and has appealed to leave on loan to his former side.
He was the 12th signing of the Porcupine Warriors who were keen on clinching the Ghana Premier League from bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak.
Ghanasportsoage.com can exclusively confirm that the attacker will leave Kumasi on Wednesday to complete his move to Chelsea.
He has been dropped from Kotoko’s match squad for Sunday’s BetPawa Premier League clash against Kotoku Royals.
