Head coach for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Coach Seydou Zerbo has explained why Eric Zeze was substituted in the second half during their game against Karela United.
Richard Boadu, who returned to the squad after missing their game against Kotoku Royals due to yellow card accumulation replaced the Ivorian midfielder in the 57th minute.
“The three midfielders who started in the first half played very well to my satisfaction but is just that Zeze couldn’t match up with the attacking game in the second half that why he was substituted,” said Coach Zerbo.
The Porcupine Warriors were in search of another win to close the gap on the league table following Sunday’s 5-1 triumph over Kotoku Royals but the 60th minute controversial penalty saw Attah Kumi’s goal proved decisive as Karela run out 1-0 winners.
It was Kotoko who dominated. They enjoyed more possession, shots and dangerous attacks, though their inability to find the back of the net proved costly.
Kotoko have slipped to fifth in the table and are now four points adrift of leaders, Aduana Stars.
