Reports emerging from Turkey suggest that Christian Atsu is among thousands of people trapped under rubble caused by an earthquake on Monday
The former Porto and Chelsea winger together with some technical staff of Hatayspor who were trapped in the 7.8 magnitude earthquake.
Upon several searches by specialists, two players and technical memberswere rescued without the inclusion of Cristian Atsu and Taner Savut, a sporting director for the club.
Atsu was in action for the club over the weekend in their victory over Kasimpasa in the Turkish top flight with the Ghanaian scoring the only goal.
According to a media report, search are still ongoing to find the winger and sporting director Yeni Malatyaspor goalie Ahmet Eyup who is also trapped.
So far, more than 900 people have died in Turkey and 500 in Syria.
Christian Atsu joined the Super Lig Side from Saudi Arabian side Al Raed last summer.
