Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association has disclosed that the current rulers of Ghana Football are considering proposals to take away congressional powers of Premier League clubs, per Ghana Sports Online.
According to the articulate ex-Executive Council member, big guns like Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak would lose their decision-making powers in congress if the proposals find favour at the Executive Council and congress.
As revealed, the plan is among a list of proposals tabled before the Executive Council for consideration and onward determination and debate at the congress of the FA.
“One thing I’ve heard that I hope it’s not true is that the Status Review Committee has proposed that the powers of the premier league clubs will be consolidated and shared to the autonomous body, women’s premier league clubs, and so on,” Afriyie told Kumasi-based Oyerepa Sports.
“You cannot run a system where a club like Asante Kotoko would have no powers at the congress of the FA. It would be a chaotic situation,” he added.
The Susubiribi Sporting Club bankroller was also tight-lipped on whether he will contest in the next Ghana FA Presidential elections which is just 8 months away.
