After the World Cup, the next international break will be in March 2023, with Angola facing Ghana in a fierce double-header in the AFCON 2023 qualifiers but head coach for the Black Antelopes, Pedro Goncalves is overly concerned that his side might not have enough time to prepare, labelling the Black Stars as ‘favorites’.
Angola – second in Group E – are tied with Ghana on points with both sides having four points each, but Coach Pedro Goncalves believes it is Ghana who are rightly favorites.
Asked about their camping schedules and preparations towards the game, Coach Pedro Goncalves said: “As you know for sure, in that case we only have the FIFA windows for national teams. We don’t have enough time to prepare the team. Unfortunately, in September this is the weakest point we had. We had no chance for camping in last September. In November we had a chance to prepare in South Africa and played with their national team. Although we were not part of the World Cup but FIFA instructed us to talk with the clubs if they can release the players for us at that time but some clubs said the players were not available. We have no time to prepare.
“We had some players who played at the CHAN and with that I believe that we can create a team to face Ghana but for sure Ghana is favourites,” Pedro told Ghanasportspage.com
