Accra Hearts of Oak board member, Alhaji Moro Akambi has finally reacted to allegations made against him following Samuel Boadu’s departure.
Akambi was accused as one of the board members who masterminded Samuel Boadu’s exit.
Some of their supporters insisted that both Odotei and others set the ex-Medeama gaffer up to fail.
But the board member has cleared the air, claiming the board had no option following the team’s poor start to the season.
Reacting to the allegations made against him, he replied, “I don’t have any issue with Samuel Boadu. You can even call him. There’s no truth about that. We still talk and share heads together.
“There are some issues I wouldn’t want to discuss publicly. You can look at our performance towards the end of last season. Continuously, how many matches did we lose? Supporters were calling for his head but the board said no, this is somebody who was able to win triple. Why all of a sudden…? We lost about five or six matches with only one draw if my memory sets me right. Earlier, this season, look at how it went. Out of possible nine points we had only two points so if you were to be in our shoes how are you going to take it. We had no option,” he told Accra-based Original FM.
Before Samuel Boadu’s departure in October last year, Hearts of Oak had failed to record a win in their first three games of the season in the Ghana Premier League.
His exit came on the back of Hearts 1-1 draw against arch rival Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium.
In his two year tenure as the lead tactician, Boadu led Hearts to two FA Cup titles, the 2020-2021 league title and the President’s Cup.
