Former Chelsea Star Christian Atsu was among thousands of people who were trapped under rubble caused by an earthquake on Monday, 9th February 2023.
The former Porto and Chelsea winger together with some technical staff of Hatayspor were trapped in the 7.8 magnitude earthquake.
However, his agent Murat Uzunmehmet released a fresh update about the Ghanaian international.
According to the agent, “Christian Atsu was found and unfortunately passed away”
Christian Atsu joined the Super Lig Side from Saudi Arabian side Al Raed last summer and scored in his last game for the club before the devasting news happened.
Atsu, who joined Chelsea as a youngster back in 2013 after leaving Porto, also had spells with a number of other top-flight clubs including Everton and Bournemouth before moving to St James’ Park.
