Former Manager of the Christian Atsu, Mr Abdul Yartey has disclosed he will name his new football pitch for Cheetah FC after the late Black Stars player.
Christian Atsu who died after an earthquake hit Turkey two weeks ago body returned to the country last Sunday.
Christian Atsu spent years with his outfit Cheetah FC before leaving to play in the Portuguese league for FC Porto eventually.
According to the former manager of the player, he had it in mind to reward Atsu by naming the pitch after him as a form of surprise but the plan couldn’t be materialised in his presence.
“He was happy to see Cheetah move forward and too see our new astroturf. He came around to grace the occasion when we were commissioning it. I had plans to surprise him when our grass pitch was ready and then eventually name it after him but my thoughts are not that of God as it my plans couldn’t bear fruits in his presence. With or without him, we will continue to honor him by naming the pitch after him” he said
Atsu left Cheetah FC in 2009 to continue his career in Europe after joining them from Gomoa Feteh Feyenoord.
Atsu was found dead on Saturday under his home in southern Turkey where plays for Hatayspor club
