Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association, Nana Oduro Sarfo has replied John Paintsil after criticizing the football governing body over of Christian Atsu’s absence from the Black Stars.
John Paintsil fired the GFA and described them as hypocrites. He claimed that the association snubbed Atsu when he was without a club and then turned around to act as though they cared about him after his tragic death.
“You snubbed him and kicked him out of your Black Stars at age 31. Atsu had been struggling to get a permanent stay in a club since the snub,” Paintsil said in an interview with Original FM. “Don’t pretend you loved him because you don’t at all.”
However, Nana Oduro Sarfo in response to John Paintsil’s comment said, “Every active footballer who has played for the national team before is still part of the national team.
“For every tournament or competition we select players to go and play. The absence of someone does not mean that we snubbed him. John Boye had a long-term absence but he returned to play as well as other Ghanaian players. We don’t just cut players out. That’s what we should all bear in mind,” he said while speaking to the media during the FA’s visit to Atsu’s family house on Tuesday.
