The former midfielder of Accra Hearts of Oak, Esme Papa Mends has tipped Aduana Stars to win the ongoing BetPawa Premier League ahead of his ex-club and Asante Kotoko.
The former Ghanaian midfielder, who played Hearts of Oak for five seasons believes the Ogya Boys will pay for their prolificacy to lift their third league title after six years.
Aduana hasn’t tasted top-flight success for some time, with their last title win coming in 2017.
And Mends is clearly keen to see them break that deadlock this season.
“I believe that Hearts can be in the top four but I will tip Aduana to win the league. I tipped Aduana and Medeama to do well before the season but Aduana is proving me right. They are consistent. They also have matured players. Based on that they can win the league.
“We all know Paa Kwasi Fabin. He is an experienced man as well as W.O Tandoh. They have a solid technical team, so I predicted them to win the league. I believe and know that they can win the league,” he told Ghanasportspage.com.
Following Aduana Stars’ victory over Hearts of Oak on Sunday, which increased their lead over Asante Kotoko and the Rainbows to eight points, Paa Kwasi Fabin’s team are now officially outright favorites.
They are also competing for the MTN FA Cup as they face Asante Kotoko this weekend in the round of 16 stage.
The league leaders will go head-to-head with King Faisal on week 19 and can extend their lead in the top spot with a win in that match.
