Asante Kotoko coach, Seydou Zerbo has blamed referee Amadu Ibrahim for his team’s 1-0 defeat to Aduana Stars in the MTN FA Cup round of 16, while also admitting that scoring is their problem.
The Porcupine Warriors were knocked out from the competition through Sam Adams’ 60th minute penalty.
The penalty came when Mohammed Alhassan fouled Isaac Mintah in the box.
But Coach Zerbo was clearly very bitter about the decision and the officiating, saying after the game: “Yes, we were defeated but it is the referee’s effort that won the match for Aduana. I don’t like talking too much about referees but he changed his mind because of how they threatened him in the first half.”
The Burkinabé tactician admitted that scoring is their problem.
“We couldn’t score a goal. This is the deficiency we are facing in now so we are going to rectify it,” he told StarTimes after the game.
Sunday’s defeat in Dormaa means the Ghanaian champions are winless in their last eight away games in all competitions.
They will now turn their focus on the Premier League as they face Bechem United on week 19 in the BetPawa Premier League. Kotoko sits third on the league table with 28 points.
