Esme Mends who was appointed as a second assistant coach to Papic in December 2020, has heaped praise on the head coach of Hearts Of Oak Slavko Matic
Esme who excelled in the local league with Hearts of Oak is of the view that Hearts’ head coach should be given time to make things work again for the club.
Matic’s charges are currently fourth on the league table with 28 points and share the same points with archenemy Asante Kotoko but are third ahead of the Phobians.
“I think we should give Matic time to make things get back to the standard he wants.
“Since the departure of Samuel Boadu, we have done some recruitments and have also taken some players out”
“The players Samuel Boadu left behind, he wouldn’t meet the same crop of players if he returns today. The question is, would he be able to work with these players? He will go back and look for players who will fit in his system.
“so I will call for patience for this Coach [Matic] because I believe he is a good coach and as supporters, let us give him time”, Esme Mends told ghanasportspage.com.
“I like this coach [Slavko Matic] and I believe in him but we should have time for him as well”.
Slavko, who is in his maiden season with the Phobians has inspired the Accra-based giants to get back on track after the team had a slow start to the season under their former coach Samuel Boadu.
Matic took over the reins of the Phobians from Samuel Boadu who mutually parted ways with the club after an abysmal start to the 2022-23 season.
The 46-year-old holds a UEFA Pro Licence and has vast experience having managed clubs in Europe and in Asia and will be in charge of Hearts for the next two years.
