Sam Adams’ second-half goal was the difference in Dormaa as Aduana Stars booked the ticket to the quarter-final stage of the MTN FA Cup with a goal victory over Asante Kotoko in the round of 16.
It was a cagey affair to begin with, neither side managed to find their rhythm or fashion any clear cut chances in the first half.
The hosts tried to press Kotoko high up the pitch, but the Porcupine Warriors continued to play out from the back, leading to some good moves.
Both sides were strong at the back and managed to see the first half ended goalless.
Asante Kotoko began the second well. Bonsu had an early chance to score but it was off target.
Aduana Stars found the breakthrough via 60th minute penalty converted by Sam Adams.
Asante Kotoko tried to push for an equalizer but the hosts remained switched on without the ball, defended resolutely and ultimately managed to see the game out and earn three valuable win.
They have qualifed to the quarter-final of the competition with Kotoko making their way out with another heartbreaking defeat.
Coach Seydou Zerbo and his boys will now turn their focus on the Premier League. They sit third on the league table with 28 points – seven points behind leaders Aduana Stars.
They will face Bechem United March 1 on week 19 of the BetPawa Premier League.
