Chief Executive Officer of Ghanasportspage.com and Africasportspage.com, Martin Tawiah has urged the fans of Accra Hearts of Oak to allow Coach Slavko Matic to do his job.

Reacting to the team’s painful 1-0 defeat to Great Olympics, the Chinese-based Ghanaian journalist asked for calm from the supporters of Accra Hearts of Oak.

“Matic has played 16 league games. Ocloo took charge after Samuel Boadu’s exit. Matic has lost only four games (against Bechem United, RTU, Aduana Stars, and Great Olympics). The Olympics is the only side with a small number of defeats. They’ve lost just three, Kotoko four, followed by Hearts of Oak and Gold Stars. They’ve also lost only four. It means the man is performing and I think that he is doing a great job.

“Hearts of Oak supporters should stop the noise and support the coach. He has a great vision for the club. He is the only coach to talk to Togbe one-on-one and tell him his plans. The supporters should stop throwing dust. It won’t help but they should support him.

“For away performance, Hearts of Oak is one of the best teams. They have lost just three out of nine away games. Four wins, two draws. Even the leaders Aduana Stars have also lost three in a way. They’ve drawn two and won five. It means Matic’s away is super great.

“The team is suffering at home because of how the supporters are putting pressure on the players. And the reason why they are drawing their home games is because of the attitude of the supporters. They are not supporting the team but putting pressure on the coach and the players.

“The fans should rather support the club, they should encourage the players. I think that this time Hearts of Oak fans should stop making noise,” he said.

The GSP1 boss added that no unemployed coach in Ghana is better than the Serbian tactician at the moment.

“At the moment no unemployed coach in Ghana is better than Matic. They should allow him to work and stop making noise.”

Hearts of Oak were beaten by their city rivals Accra Great Olympics in the Premier League on Wednesday.

They were hoping to bounce back and maintain their place after losing 2-0 to high-flying Aduana Stars.

The fans are worried about the team’s performance and calling for Slavko Matic’s head after dropping from the top four.

The Rainbows find themselves at the sixth position on the league table with 28 points, two points away from the top four and eight points behind leaders Aduana Stars.

They will face Asante Kotoko on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium in the league’s much anticipated clash. Another defeat will make it three in a row.
