Isaac Mensah scored a late leveller for Hearts of Oak, with the President’s Cup winners coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Gold Stars at the Dun’s Park.
Evans Owusu snatched the lead for the Golden Boys with a trademark strike in the fourth minute.
Hearts of Oak were coming off a win against Asante Kotoko after back-to-back defeats to Aduana Stars and Great Olympics in Accra, while Gold Stars also came into the game off a 2-0 away defeat to Bechem United.
The visitors dominated much of the first half, but the defenders of Gold Stars were able to keep them out.
Hearts, who have scored only two goals in their last four games looked livelier in the second half after bringing in Salifu Ibrahim,Victor Aiddo and Yassan Ouatching as they kept the Gold Stars defence under pressure.
They intensified their performance and continued to press for a response.
The intensity picked up in the additional nine minutes after in the second half. Hearts, with more of an attacking presence, tried shooting. However, Isaac Mensah brought the scores level to hand the Phobians a vital point on week 21 of the BetPawa Premier League.
Hearts of Oak have risen to the fourth place with 32 points – four points behind leaders Aduana Stars, with Gold Stars occupying the sixth position with 31 points.
