Chief Executive Officer of Accra Lions, Nana Obiri Yeboah has disclosed the secret behind his team’s amazing rise in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.
The club gained promotion to the Ghanaian top-flight two seasons ago but they are riding high on the league table. Monday’s victory over Dreams FC leaves them at the second position with 37 points – just two points off leaders Aduana Stars after week 21.
They impressed in their maiden season in the Ghana Premier League by placing 12th with a lot of inexperienced and young players.
Playing and succeeding in the Ghana Premier League doesn’t always come easily to new clubs.
However, the bankroller of the club, Nana Obiri Yeboah says the secret to his side’s astonishing rise in the league lies in hard work, player recruitment, technical composition and others.
“It is various component that has come together and it has converted into our results today. The number one is player scouting and recruitment of players from the lower division.
“The next one would be the technical composition of the team and the third one will be the philosophy. Aside from philosophy, the ultimate one is the hard work that goes on. We are not a big club like Accra Hearts of Oak or Asante Kotoko but we have our own ideas of trying to play each game at a time.
“The most important thing is the games ahead. Our approach is all to go in, try and win; and see where that win will take you to.
“Our performance on the league table is a result of hard work, planning, and efficiency to read out what we’ve been doing things. Credit to the players and the technical team for their work over the past months in the Ghana Premier League,” Nana Obiri Yeboah disclosed in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com.
Having defied the odds to become possible title contenders, winning the league or finishing in top four would be the biggest achievement of the club under Coach James Francis and Sporting Director Ibrahim Tanko.
