Asante Kotoko will be back in action as Seydou Zerbo’s side travel to Samreboi to take on FC Samartex on week 22.
Having suffered a setback in their previous clash at the Accra Sports Stadium after losing 1-0 to their fierce rival Accra Hearts of Oak, the Porcupine Warriors will hope to bounce back this time around to close in on the league title.
Heading into Saturday’s showdown, it seems as though the away side have been handed a significant triple injury boost.
Midfielder, Justice Blay, forward Dickson Afoakwa and defender, Maxwell Agyemang have returned to training.
And the club might be able to call on only Blay and Afoakwa for the game, with both players having played a full part in team training on Monday.
The return of these players will be a big boost to Kotoko’s chances of getting a win, an eventuality that would leave Seydou Zerbo thrilled, especially if his team can capitalise and seal all three points.
But Agyemang is likely to miss the trip, as he continues his recovery from injury.
He is in individual training but not team training yet (he remains a few days away). He is expected to return for the outstanding game against King Faisal.
The club confirmed the return of Blay and Afoakwa on their official Twitter page on Monday.
The post reads: “Good morning. Blay and Afoakwa return.
The return of Maxwell Agyemang has not been confirmed by the team but we can state that he is back but not fully fit for this weekend’s game.
“He has started training but they are yet to post it. He is not having a full training but the morning for ‘running’ and the evening is for ‘gym,” a close source told Ghanasportspage.com.
Elsewhere, Rashid Nortey and Isaac Oppong are still on the injury list.
Asante Kotoko are fifth on the league table with 31 points after 20 games. They have a game in hand against King Faisal, which will be played on March 29th.
