Reigning Ghanaian champions, Asante Kotoko will take on Medeama SC in Sunday’s Premier League tie at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium without three key players.
Three players namely, Steven Mukwala, Danlad Ibrahim, and Augustine Agyapong are on national duty.
Steven Mukwala has been included in Uganda’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications double-header against neighbours Tanzania.
The Cranes will first host the Taifa Stars at the St. Mary’s Stadium-Kitende in Entebbe on March 24 before the reverse fixture at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam four days later.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim and defender Agyapong will be in action for the Black Meteors when they face Algeria in the U-23 AFCON qualifiers.
The first leg game will be played on Friday, Match 24 in Annaba, Algeria with the return encounter slated for the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Tuesday, March 28.
However, there are some key players in doubt – which the club need to examine.
Rashid Nortey, Dickson Afoakwa and Isaac Oppong are all recovering from their respective injuries ahead of the game. Maxwell Agyemang has started full training after missing the team’s last five games. The technical team will be hoping to have their services for the titanic clash.
Asante Kotoko head to the game after securing a 2-1 win against FC Samartex in Samreboi over the weekend.
Their game against Medeama SC is scheduled for 6:00pm on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
This clash is the reverse fixture from week 6 clash, which the GPL holders won 1-0 courtesy of Nicholas Mensah’s powerful strike in Tarkwa.
Currently, Kotoko rank fifth on the league table with 34 points the same as Medeama, who rank sixth.
