Thursday evening sees Angola back in action when they take on Ghana at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the first leg of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers double-header.
Ahead of the game, Coach Pedro Goncalves has admitted that Ghana is one of the big teams in Africa but his side shouldn’t be scared.
The Black Stars are tipped by many as favorites ahead of tomorrow’s meeting but the head coach for the Black Antelopes is very optimistic that they can upset Ghana.
“For us, the most important thing is to qualify for the AFCON at the end of the six rounds.
“After two rounds we are leading the group with Ghana. Very soon we will be playing round four and round five against the favorite of the group. Surely it will be a very difficult match but we don’t have to be afraid if we want to compete with the big teams. Let’s play football and try to beat Ghana,” Coach Pedro Goncalves told Ghanasportspage.com.
Angola failed to qualify for the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon after exiting the group stage in 2019. They now face the difficult task to re-enter the competition.
Tomorrow’s game is scheduled for 16:00GMT (4:00 PM) at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Ghana currently tops Group E with four points with Angola following closely with the same number of points.
