Antoine Semenyo’s injury-time goal saw Ghana beat Angola 1-0 in the first leg of their AFCON 2023 qualifiers in Group E at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Ghana had appeared to be heading for a frustrating goalless draw in the Ashanti Regional capital.
But Antoine Semenyo, who came in as a substitute during the 70th minute for Jordan Ayew saved the day with a last minute strike, securing Chris Hughton’s side a vital win over the Black Antelopes.
“There was no pressure. I need to make sure I’m effective for the team. I always wanna help the team and be effective. I am happy today and we have to go again in the next few days.
“I’m really happy for the goal. I needed it, and the team needed it,” Antoine Semenyo stated after the game.
The Black Stars of Ghana will make the trip to Luanda for the reverse fixture on Tuesday.
Ghana current top Group E with 7 points after three games.
