Deputy coach for Accra Hearts of Oak, David Ocloo says he is satisfied with the performance of his team following their hard-fought win over ‘stubborn’ Accra Lions.
Linda Mtange was on target for the first time in the BetPawa Premier League as Hearts of Oak won 1-0 over their city rivals at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Caleb Amankwah, Dennis Korsah, Albert Eonde and Samuel Inkoom were handed a starting berth in Hearts of Oak’s starting XI by the Phobians deputy coach. The line-up also saw Eric Ofori Antwi starting in posts as replacement for Richmond Ayi.
The Rainbows entered the game hoping to ease back to winning ways after last weekend’s 3-0 defeat to Karela United.
But they did not take it easy. They struggled to find the back of the net in the first half. It took them 64 minutes to register a goal through Linda Mtange.
Accra Lions improved as they huffed and puffed for an equaliser but Hearts always looked the more likely with Eric Esso going close to a second with a goal bound shot.
“I told you that we will do our best to get the positive result and we got it.
“Yes, I am very satisfied. You could see they felt gallantly. Am so much proud of them and I will encourage them to keep up and keep it going this way,” coach David Ocloo told StarTimes after the game.
The result sees Hearts climb to third place, just three points adrift of leaders Aduana, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Berekum Chelsea. Accra Lions drop to third.
