Brazilian striker, Matheus Medieros de Souza opened his goal account for Kotoko in their 4-0 win over Real Tamale United.
The Porcupine Warriors came into the game without victory in their last two games but they were able to sweep aside ruthless RTU at home in the Ghanaian top-flight on Sunday.
Augustine Agyapong scored from a free-kick to put Kotoko ahead in the 36th minute before break. The breakthrough came just two minutes after RTU goalkeeper Yaw Osei was sent off.
The Porcupine Warriors doubled the lead in the first three minutes during the second half. They won a penalty from a handball incident, which was calmly converted by Ugandan attacker, Steven Mukwala.
It was a stunning evening for the Reds who were seeking revenge over the Northern giants after losing 2-1 in the first leg at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
The burst opened and goals poured. Mukwala scored again in the 64th minute to make it 3-0 for the reigning Ghanaian champions before de Souza scored in the dying embers to seal the points for his side.
Kotoko started with a 4-3-1-2 shape this time around, as Augustine Agyapong, Mohammed Alhassan, Sherrif Mohammed and Nicholas Osei-Bonsu played in defense. Richard Boadu Agadas, Richmond Lamptey and Eric Zeze also played from midfield while Isaac Oppong occupied the number 10 role, with Steven Mukwala and Matheus Medieros de Souza leading the attack.
The Porcupine Warriors, who drew to Legon Cities on Thursday move above Gold Stars and Accra Lions to occupy the fifth place with 38 points. The result also leaves RTU in eleventh place with 32 points.
