Coach Abdulai Gazale was ‘super happy’ after Kotoko’s massive win over Real Tamale United in the BetPawa Premier League at home on Sunday.
Goals from Augustine Agyapong, Steven Mukwala and Matheus de Souza helped the Porcupine Warriors to sweep aside the Northern giants at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Augustine Agyapong set Kotoko on their way with a superb free-kick on 36th minutes before Steven Mukwala scored a second from the spot in the 48th minute following a handball incident from RTU player.
Mukwala then got his second during the 64th minutes to extend the lead.
Matheus Medieros de Souza also registered his first GPL goal since joining the Ghanaian giants in February after scoring in the latter part of the game to help the reigning Ghanaian champions to a 4-0 thrashing of Real Tamale United.
In an interview with StarTimes after the game, the Porcupine Warriors caretaker said: “Like I said before the game, we had prepared the team technically and tactically for the RTU game because we’ve how they play and haven’t been losing off late so we made our mind to come in all out in order to get a goal and once we get that.”
The Reds will welcome struggling King Faisal on Wednesday in their outstanding league game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Yesterday’s impressive win helps Kotoko to move above Accra Lions and Gold Stars to occupy the fifth position with 38 points – 1 point behind their rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.
