The MTN FA Cup is now down to its final four competitors after another dramatic weekend of action. King Faisal, Skyy FC, Dreams FC and Nsoatreman FC have all reached the semi-finals of the competition.
The quarter-final stage of the FA Cup which is known as ‘Obia nye obia’ was full of shocking results.
King Faisal eliminated GPL leaders Aduana Stars with a 3-2 victory on penalties after playing out a 2-2 draw at the Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
Skyy FC also secured a place in the semi-final stage for the first time after beating Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs 1-0 on Saturday through Eric Antwi Boadu’s first half strike.
Elsewhere, Nsoatreman FC also picked up a 1-0 win over Real Tamale United at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium to book their first ever semi-final spot.
The Nsoatre-based team took the lead just before half-time with a well-placed header from Philip Ofori, assisted by Emmanuel Kotei’s corner-kick.
Although Real Tamale United put up a strong fight in the second half, Nsoatreman’s goalkeeper Daniel Afadzwu made some impressive saves to keep them in the competition.
However, Dreams FC also progressed after evicting Legon Cities with a goal victory in Dewu.
A solitary strike from Emmanuel Adade in the extra time secured a slim win for the Dawu-based club.
