Asante Kotoko CEO, Nana Yaw Amponsah has been at the center of some heavy criticism from the media for his performances and behavior after Seydou Zerbo’s departure.
There has been persistent speculation within the media space that the young CEO is at loggerheads with the club’s board of directors following the decision to sack the Burkinabé tactician.
Since Nana Yaw Amponsah’s appointment as CEO of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, there has been a big gap between the supporters and management of the team.
Some of the supporters are blaming him for low stadium attendance during Kotoko matches at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
However, recent negative media reports and comments about Nana Yaw Amponsah have disappointed the club’s ex-defender, Awal Mohammed.
In an interview with Ghanasportspage.com, Awal said: “For Nana Yaw Amponsah I know him personally. He took me to Raja, Russia and Saudi. He is my man. The job cannot exceed his strength. He is a young man. He has his own ideas. You can see it. The supporters should come back. That’s the most important thing in Kotoko to show that team is big.
“The name Kotoko will never change. The stadium should be filled even if they are playing against Black Queens. Is their duty and not Nana Yaw Amponsah. He came to work. He will do what he can and go. There’s no need to say whether he can do the job or not… I am always sad just because of the supporters. They have to be proud of the team that they support,” Awal Mohammed stated.
Nana Yaw Amponsah was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko SC in August 2020. He has worked with four different coaches, including Maxwell Konadu, Mariano Barreto, Prosper Narteh Ogum, and Seydou Zerbo, since his arrival. The Porcupine Warriors have won one Premier League under his administration.
