Accra Hearts of Oak have a number of players with contracts running down – leaving the Accra-based club with some big decisions to make.
The Rainbows have three key players whose deals are set to reach their conclusions. The future of these players remain uncertain.
According to reports, Kwadwo Obeng Junior, Caleb Amankwah and Salifu Ibrahim are unwilling to extend their contracts with the club.
KWADWO OBENG JUNIOR (ATTACKER)
Obeng Junior is out of contract at the end of the current season. There have been claims that the striker is not willing to stay.
He has been linked to join an unnamed European club after the season and according to our deep-throat source the 23-year-old has signed a three-year contract with a club in the Swedish top flight and is expected to leave Hearts of Oak two months later. His contract with the club will come to an end in May.
The attacker has faced plenty of criticism following his scoring drought. He has been verbally abused and unfairly criticised by the fans of the club. With this, the player has decided to continue his football career in Europe.
CALEB AMANKWAH (DEFENDER)
Caleb Amankwah could leave Accra Hearts of Oak for free at the end of the season.
The centre-back’s contract at Hearts of Oak expires in May and convincing him to stay beyond looks increasingly unlikely.
The former Aduana Stars defender has enjoyed an outstanding career at Hearts, winning one Premier League title, two FA Cup titles and one President’s Cup title.
He is considered as one of the best defenders in the BetPawa Premier League. He is known for his scoring abilities and defensive skills.
However, he set to leave if the Rainbows fail to convince him to stay.
SALIFU IBRAHIM (MIDFIELDER)
Salifu, who’s contract with the club ends in February 2024 is targeting a transfer to Europe when his contract expires.
The midfielder remains reluctant to extend his Hearts of Oak contract.
Reports indicate that three European clubs, AS Monaco, PSV Eindhoven and FC Porto are showing an interest in signing the midfielder from Accra Hearts of Oak.
The midfielder joined the Phobians in February 2021 on a three-and-a-half-year deal from Techiman Eleven Wonders and was very instrumental in the club winning their first league trophy in eleven years and also the FA Cup.
He turned out to be a surprise package for the Rainbows in 2021 and beat off competition from WAFA’s Augustine Boakye and Olympics’ Gladson Awako to win the Player-of-The-Year award after bagging 3 goals, 8 assists, and 8 MVPs.
He has scored 2 goals and 2 assists in 15 games for Hearts of Oak this season.
