Accra Hearts of Oak suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat at the hands of Tamale City at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in the BetPawa Premier League matchday 28.
The Rainbows were hoping to get back to winning ways after losing 3-0 Berekum Chelsea over the weekend.
Having failed to utilize their chances, the rout began in the 17th minute when Sampson Eduku took the lead for the hosts.
Hearts of were forced to make an early substitution in the first half as Benjamin Nana Yeboah was called to replace injured Eric Ofori in the 20th minute.
Tamale City looked dominant and managed to score the second goal from the spot. Sampson Eduku was the to score again before halftime.
Despite making some changes in the second half, things got worse for the visitors. They tried to reduce the deficit but it was Tamale City who scored to make it 3-0 through Mohammed Yahaya.
Substitute Victor Aiddo pulled one back for the visitors in the 79th minute as they looked to close out the game but the Citizens made absolutely sure of a crucial win with the fourth goal coming from Isaac Mensah in the additional two minutes of the second half.
Hearts of Oak made only two changes from their previous line-up against Berekum Chelsea. Suraj Seidu and Jeordan Otanga returned as replacement for Faisal Billey and Isaac Mensah.
They now sit 5th in the Premier League table with 42 points. Tamale City have also moved from 15th to 13th with 35 points after 28 matches.
