Ex-Ghanaian international, Bernard Don Bortey has boldly stated that he can win the BetPawa Premier League with his former, Accra Hearts of Oak if given the chance to lead them.
The Phobian icon expressed his readiness and confidence during an interview with Accra-based Max FM on Thursday.
“Nobody should think that when the mandate is given to me, I can’t coach the club. If I am given the chance to coach Hearts of Oak, I will win the league,” Don Bortey stated.
Bortey who played for Hearts between 2001-2010 currently holds Ghana Football Association (GFA) National ‘D’ Coaching License and has previously coached Wa Yasin FC and Techiman Gold Stars.
The Rainbows are still searching for their next boss following Slavko Matic’s departure.
Multiple reports indicate that the management of the GPL giants have approached former Asante Kotoko trainer, Prosper Narteh Ogum for his services as they look to appoint a new manager before the start of the next campaign.
The 2021/22 Premier League winner has emerged as a frontrunner for the vacant Hearts role. He is expected to take over at the end of the season.
The club currently rank fifth, level on 42 points with their sworn rivals, Asante Kotoko after 28 games.
