- Jordan Ayew registered his fourth goal of the season on Saturday.
- Schlupp has also scored three league goals for the Eagles in the ongoing campaign
Ghanaian duo, Jordan Ayew and Jeffrey Schlupp scored one goal each as Crystal Palace defeated West Ham United in a seven-goal thriller in the English Premier League on Saturday.
The victory takes them to the 40-point mark on the league table after 34 matches.
West Ham took the lead through Tomas Soucek after Michael Olise headed the ball from a corner into his path but Crystal Palace overturned the scoreline when Olise set up two goals to put his side in front, sliding a ball through to Jordan Ayew to drive home and then crossing for the returning Wilfried Zaha to score.
The lead was extended when Jeffrey Schlupp robbed Soucek and ran through to coolly nutmeg Lukasz Fabianski, but the Hammers scored a fifth goal of the half before the break when Soucek flicked on a corner for Michael Antonio to head home.
The second half was a comparatively staid affair with Eberechi Eze going down from a slight tug of his shorts from Nayef Aguerd and got up to send the goalkeeper the wrong way from the spot.
West Ham never really looked like getting back in the game except from set-pieces and scored another from a corner when Soucek once more flicked on and this time Aguerd headed home from the goal-line.
The Hammers will remain a little nervous, five points clear of the bottom three ahead of the 3 o’clock Premier League games, but for Palace the gamble to restore Roy Hodgson as manager has proved an emphatic success with them now able to plan for another season in the Premier League.
