With five matches left to wrap up the season, TP Mazembe defender, Abdul Ganiyu Ismael has advised his former club, Asante Kotoko to work hard in order to retain the BetPawa Premier League title.
The defending champions are in the hunt for 25th league title but their campaign has been marked by inconsistency.
They have struggled to pick three maximum points in their last two games since their 2-1 win over Aduana Stars.
The defeat to Great Olympics and the draw with Tamale City leaves them in fifth position on the table and eight points behind leaders Aduana Stars.
But the club’s former captain believes they can still turn things around if they work hard.
“Is not easy but they should push hard and fight for the league because Asante Kotoko is like a religion. It is their time to do something. They shouldn’t give up. You have to struggle before you can achieve something good. They should fight hard and take the trophy back to Manhyia,” Ganiyu stated in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com.
The highly-rated defender left the club after helping them to win the 2021/22 Premier League.
He currently plies his trade with DR. Congo giants, TP Mazembe.
