Renzo Lopez scored a stoppage-time winner as Mudasiru Salifu’s Al-Batin beat Al Ta’ee 4-3 on Wednesday in the Saudi Pro League.
Trailing 3-0 after 30 minutes through goals from Amir Saayoud, Guy Mbenza and Knowledge Musona, Al Batin rallied to claim a sensational comeback in the second half.
The visitors opener came courtesy of Amir Saayoud in the 14th minute. Then Guy Mbenza doubled the lead moments later before Knowledge Musona scored to make it 3-0.
However, Renzo Lopez rescued the hosts as he pulled one back before Yousef Al-Shammari scored to make it 3-2 followed by Andres Roa, who levelled the scoreline in the 87th minute. Having improved, Renzo Lopez registered his second goal of the game in the additional four minutes as the Sky Blues grabbed victory from the jaws of defeat.
This comeback win will go down as one of the best for former Kotoko coach Zdravko Logarusic and the relegation battling side.
Logarusic was appointed as manager of Saudi Arabian club in February after the sacking of Alen Horvat following the club’s poor run in the ongoing campaign.
The Croatian tactician is on course to keep his side in the league, with four matches to end the season.
Ghanaian international and ex-Sherrif Tiraspol midfielder, Mudasiru Salifu came off the bench to replace Rakan Shamlan in the 72nd minute.
Salifu made twelve touches with 6 accurate passes. He was rated 6.6 after the game.
