Former Ghanaian international, Dan Quaye has lamented the current situation at Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, describing them as a ‘normal team’.
The two top clubs are enduring a woeful campaign. Both teams are now out of the top four and have now slipped in Africa.
Speaking to Ghanasportspage.com, Dan Quaye stated that there is no spirit in the two top clubs again and believes they have fundamentally changed for the worse.
“To be honest, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko are like a ‘normal team’ now unlike the last two years that had the likes of Patrick Razak and others. There’s no spirit in Hearts and Kotoko again. There is no fear in the team anymore. They are now like Bibiani Gold Stars and Samartex.
“This is not how we want to build Hearts. See the legacy we left and those who continued. Hearts of Oak is like Zamalek and Al Alhy. Hearts of Oak and Kotoko now compete ‘two years, two years’ in Africa but the teams I mentioned participate and perform well every year. They are big teams in Africa same as Hearts and Kotoko.”
Currently, Hearts of Oak sit fifth on the league table with 45 points followed by their bitterest rivals Asante Kotoko, who ranks sixth with 44 points.
