Ghana’s U-20 Women’s national team hosted the Menas of Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday morning as part of preparations ahead of the inaugural WAFU Zone B Women’s U-20 Cup.
The game ended 11-0 in favour of the hosts. The first eight goals arrived in the first half. In the second half, Ghana scored three more goal to destroy the Nigeriens.
Mafia Nyame and Faiza Seidu scored twice each. Stella Nyamekye bagged hat-trick. Helen Alormenu, Tracy Twum and Mary Amponsah were also on the scoresheet as Ghana breezed past poor Niger.
With the tournament just weeks away, Coach Yusif Basigi and his players are working hard to ensure they are fully prepared for the challenges ahead. The team is expected to field a strong lineup to take on Nigeria, Niger, Benin, Ivory Coast, Togo, and Burkina Faso.
The inaugural WAFU Zone B Women’s U-20 Cup of Nations will take place in Kumasi from Saturday, May 20 to Sunday, June 4, 2023.
