Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder, Gladson Awako has returned to training and is hoping to contribute as David Ocloo intensifies preparations for the upcoming game against second-place Medeama SC.
Ghanasportspage.com can confirm that the ex-Great Olympics captain was spotted in first-team training on Wednesday, raising hopes that he could be available for selection in the Rainbows’ next game in the BetPawa Premier League.
Awako walked off the pitch with an injury during their clash against FC Samartex in Samreboi. He lasted only 31 minutes and was replaced by Gideon Asante, who scored Hearts’ first goal against the Timber Boys.
The 32-year-old is having a luckless campaign so far, having missed more than half of Hearts of Oak’s Premier League games this season.
He has not been able to put together a run of games since the CHAN tournament. The midfielder is expected to be in action on Sunday.
Hearts, who are fourth on the league will hope to bounce back from the 3-2 defeat against FC Samartex to pick a vital win over the Tarkwa-based. The first leg ended 1-0 in favour of the Rainbows.
