Angola head coach Pedro Goncalves is optimistic about Angola’s chances of playing at the World Cup for the second time.
The Black Antelopes have appeared at the FIFA World Cup on one occasion in 2006, since becoming a member of FIFA in 1980.
They failed to compete in South Africa, Brazil, Russia and Qatar but Coach Goncalves says they are preparing their preparing the possibilities to play at the next World Cup.
“We know we will face one of the biggest countries in Africa so we are preparing the possibilities to qualify for the World Cup. We have to go to the field and show to everybody that we deserve that. I believe Angola have that kind of performance to achieve that and we have to prove that inside the field,” Pedro told Ghanasportspage.com.
The Official Draw of the FIFA World Cup 2026 African Qualifiers will be on Wednesday 12 July 2023 in Cotonou, Benin – the night before the 45th CAF Ordinary General Assembly.
Cameroon, Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia and Ghana represented Africa at the last tournament in Qatar.
