Asante Kotoko had to settle for another 1-1 draw after being left frustrated by struggling Karela United in the BetPawa Premier League matchday 32.
A 29th minute own goal from Rashid Mohammed looked like being the difference between the two sides – in a game where Kotoko controlled proceedings for the most part – but ex-Hearts of Oak captain Fatawu Mohammed slotted home during the 75th minute to level the scores.
The Porcupine were the front runners going into the match following their impressive 3-1 win over Kotoku Royals but their form didn’t translate into a win against the Anyinase-based.
Coach Abdulai restored Frederick Asare to his number one position leaving Danlad Ibrahim and Moise Poauty on the bench. Mohammed, Eric Zeze and Steven Mukwala were handed a starting berth in Kotoko’s set-up.
Despite a point earned, Karela United remain in the relegation zone with 40 points. The results leaves Kotoko in fourth with 48 points.
Ghanaian will travel to the nation’s capital to face Accra Lions on June 3, before they return to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to wrap up the campaign with Dreams FC.
However, the strugglers host Gold Stars at the CAM Park on week 33. They will then make the trip to lock horns relegated Kotoku Royals at the Theater of Dreams.
