Top scorer of the just ended Ghana Premier League, Abednego Tetteh has spoken on his exclusion from the Black Stars squad ahead of this weekend’s clash against Madagascar.
Despite a standout campaign in the Ghanaian top-flight with Bibiani Gold Stars, the ex-Phobian was not on the 25-player squad for the upcoming AFCON qualifier against the BAREA.
Coach Chris Hughton handed Hafiz Konkoni of Bechem United a lete call-up, with the league’s top scorer shockingly missing the cut.
In response to missing the roster, Abednego Tetteh said: “I am a human being and I think about it but the FA knows the reason behind why I have been snubbed. They can only tell the criteria for the call-up. I thank God for my success,” the striker told Ghanasportspage.com.
“I don’t think my time is with someone but is in the hands of the Lord. There are different ways of rewarding someone and they will call me if they know I deserve it but I give glory to God if they say I don’t deserve it,” he added.
Abednego Tetteh emerged as the top scorer of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season after bagging 18 goals in 29 games.
He faced tough competition from Hafiz Konkoni of Bechem United and Sampson Eduku of Tamale City, who scored 15 and 14 goals respectively.
However, it was Tetteh’s consistent performance and goal-scoring ability that earned him the golden boot.
