“Sacking Slavko Matic and replacing him with an AVERAGE coach was a big mistake” – Says ex-Hearts of Oak defender

Former Accra Hearts of Oak captain, Samuel Nzemaba says the Rainbows made a big mistake by replacing Slavko Matic with an average coach [David Ocloo].

The Serbian tactician, who replaced Coach Samuel Boadu in October last year left the club in March after he was chased out by some angry supporters following the team’s back-to-back defeats against Aduana Stars and city rivals, Accra Great Olympics.

David Ocloo, was, however, hired to serve as caretaker manager for the remainder of the season but failed to steady the ship, in which they finished 12th.

“David Ocloo can never handle Hearts of Oak. I heard him in an interview saying he is ready to coach the team if given the opportunity. You had a poor result as an interim so how can you be appointed as the head coach? It’s not done anywhere and I won’t even agree if they decide to give him the job. David Ocloo is an average coach.

“Hearts is not like Bofoakwa Tano and other small clubs. The team demands and you can’t sack the head coach and give the job to someone who is an average coach. It was a big mistake but I hope things will change next season to get someone who can control the team,” Nzemaba told Ghanasportspage.com.

Nzemaba, who played for both Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, made his comments following the team’s abysmal performances in the just-ended Premier League.

The Rainbows recorded five wins, three draws and seven defeats under Coach David Ocloo between March and June.
