TRANSFER: Chelsea goalkeeper Mendy agrees Saudi Arabia move

Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has agreed terms with Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli ahead of a move to the club.

Mendy is the latest name set for a move to Saudi Arabia after reaching an agreement on personal terms with Al Ahli.

The Senegal international is set to sign a three-year deal with Fabrizio Romano reporting that negotiations over the goalkeeper’s transfer are at the ‘final stages’.privacy settings

Mendy had been keen to leave Chelsea after losing his place as first-choice goalkeeper to Kepa Arrizabalaga last season, with the 31-year-old restricted to just nine Premier League starts.

Mendy impressed after his initial arrival in the Premier League from Rennes and was named as The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper in 2021 after his role in Chelsea’s Champions League success under Thomas Tuchel. He was later named in the Africa Cup of Nations Team of the Tournament following Senegal’s maiden success in the competition in 2022.

Mendy will join Chelsea team-mate N’Golo Kante in The Saudi Pro League next season with the midfielder set to be named as a new signing at Al-Ittihad, while Hakim Ziyech and Kalidou Koulibaly are also in negotiations with Saudi sides over moves to the Middle East from Stamford Bridge.
