Barely FIVE [5] months after the end of the Algerian edition, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) already has its sights set on the next edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has already planned on preparing for CHAN 2024. This competition, which concerns only local players, is one of the most important tournaments in the continent.
If the name of the host country is not yet known, the schedule for the playoffs has already been established. According to this website, the playoffs will take place in two phases. Hostilities will begin at the end of July and end at the end of September. As usual, the meetings will take place by geographical zones (North, West A and B, Centre, East and South).
The final phase of the 2024 edition will be the second of its kind to bring together 18 teams. However, not all teams will be eligible for the final phase.
Qualifying schedule – CHAN 2024:
1st round: From July 28 to 30 for the first leg and from August 4 to 6 for the return leg.
2nd round: From September 1 to 3 for the first leg and from September 22 to 24 for the return leg.
Meanwhile, Dr Congo and the Congo Republic are preparing a bid to host the 2024 African Nations Championship [CHAN] as their government officials signed documents to that effect and to represent the Confederation of African Football [CAF]. The two countries have submitted a bid to host the upcoming CHAN next year.
