Retired Ghanaian footballer, Samuel Nzemaba has expressed dissatisfaction with the meagre salaries paid to Accra Hearts of Oak players, saying the playing body should earn more than the board members.
Talking more specifically about team’s current state, Nzemaba expressed more sadness and anger because of the inadequate incentive for the players.
“It’s so sad to see some board members receiving higher salaries than our players. How can a board member earn around 6,000, 7,000 to 10,000 cedis as monthly salary while a player receives 400 to 800 cedis? These are some of the reasons why our players are not getting the maximum respect.
“How can we respect Ghana Football? This is how things will go. We never not win any trophy again. I have even stopped watching Ghana Football,” the former Hearts of Oak captain divulged during an interview with Ghanasportspage.com.
Nzemaba was one of the best defenders in the Ghana Premier League. He played for Asante Kotoko before joining Accra Hearts of Oak in 2009.
The veteran defender parted ways with the Rainbows in 2012 to sign for Medeama Sporting Club.
He took part of the Medeama’s first appearance in Africa during the 2013/14 CAF Confederations Cup.
The experience defender has previously won the SWAG cup with Kotoko and also helped Hearts to clinch the Top-4.
