Despite moving up from the 60th position, the Black Stars remain 11th in Africa.
The four-time African champions climbed up to 59th spot with 1391.04 points to move up a place from their previous position in April.
Ghana’s upturn in the latest ranking follows their goalless draw with Madagascar in the AFCON 2023 qualifiers.
The Atlas Lions of Morocco remain the number one team on the continent, with the Teranga Lions of Senegal and Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in second and third position, respectively.
The Desert Foxes of Algeria and Pharaohs of Egypt complete the top five teams. Nigeria rank 39th, one place above their previous position in the world and 6th in Africa.
Elsewhere, The Sparrowhawks of Togo made a significant leap thanks to their last victory on the 5th day of the AFCON 2023 qualifiers.
Paulo Duarte’s men, who were 129th in the world according to the ranking of April 6, 2023, are now 122nd, gaining seven places in the world ranking.
In Africa, Togo now occupies the 31st position with 1140.88 points against 1129.81 in the previous ranking.
Overall, Argentina (1st) are settling into their new role as world leaders. Almost three months after regaining the top spot in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, the Albiceleste remain top thanks to friendly victories against Australia and Indonesia.
The top three are also unchanged, with the reigning world champions remaining ahead of France (2nd) and Brazil (3rd).
