Ibrahim Salifu has attributed Hearts of Oak’s frustrating and humiliating campaign to poor start.
The Phobians endured a tough campaign, finishing 12th in the just ended Ghana Premier League season.
Hearts of Oak failed to win their final five games, losing four and drawing with Berekum Chelsea on the last day.
They ended the season with three coaches, having sacked Samuel Boadu early on for Slavko Matic, who was replaced by David Ocloo.
Salifu Ibrahim, however, speaking in an interview with Kessben FM dismissed several criticisms suggesting that the change in the technical team affected them.
The former Eleven Wonders noted that they failed to catch up in critical moments due to poor start to the season.
“In football, both coaches and players can leave clubs so, it’s normal. It doesn’t mean that is what affected our performance. Things just didn’t work out for the whole team. We didn’t get a good start,” Ibrahim stated.
Hearts of Oak will face a season without African football in the 2023/24 campaign.
The club is currently searching for a permanent coach for the vacant role.
Coach Annor Walker and Prosper Narteh Ogum have emerged as the front-runners for the job.
