Ghana Premier League side, Berekum Chelsea has responded to recent rumours linking their striker, Stephen Amankonah to Accra Hearts of Oak.
Later last week, reports emerged that the former Asante Kotoko striker had been approached by the Phobians for his services ahead of the upcoming season.
However, during an interview with Ghanasportspage.com on Sunday, the club’s Executive Chairman, Nana Kwame Nketia played down rumours claiming that their skipper is on the verge of joining the 2020/21 Ghanaian champions.
When questioned about the news, he said: “None of the clubs has shown interest. We haven’t received any letter. It’s a rumour.”
Amankonah returned to Berekum Chelsea in January following an unsuccessful spell at Asante Kotoko.
Before signing for Asante Kotoko two seasons ago, the 23-year-old attacker was instrumental for the Bibires in the Ghanaian top-flight during the 2020/21 season where he netted 10 goals in 28 matches and helped them to reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
He ended the 2022/23 season with 3 goals in 19 appearances for Asante Kotoko and the Bibires.
His first goal of the season powered the Porcupine to a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Nsoatreman FC in Kumasi.
