Ghanaian international, Maxwell Baakoh marked his return to USM Khenchela’s starting XI with a brilliant strike in their 2-1 victory over RC Arbaâ on week 27 in the Algerian league.
Baakoh had been a doubt after missing last weekend’s clash against FC Biskra through injury.
But on Tuesday, the stylish midfielder produced a masterful performance to score the opener for his club.
The former Asante Kotoko player snatched the lead after just four minutes. His goal lasted for only nine minutes as Kheir Touai equalised for the visitors.
Having wrapped up the first half with a 1-1 scoreline, Khenchela emerged for the second half in a more determined fashion, with Baakoh hitting the crossbar before Sid Ali Lamri restored their lead in the 85th minutes.
Baakoh, who scored the opener was substituted after Khenchela’s second goal.
The win sends Khenchela to 8th on the league table with 39 points, one point off the top four.
The former Asante Kotoko midfielder is enjoying a stellar progress in his career, having become the midfield controller for the club.
The 27-year-old midfield dynamo has been terrific this campaign whenever he has been called upon.
He has now made 21 appearances for the Algerian side this season with four goals in the Ligue 1.
