Former Asante Kotoko midfielder, Maxwell Baakoh enjoyed an impressive evening for USM Khenchela, despite losing 2-1 away to NC Magra in the Algerian top-flight.
The midfielder continued his blistering form after climbing off the bench to extend his scoring streak.
But the goal which was his seventh goal of the season wasn’t enough to rescue point for his team, as they went on to suffer a 2-1 away defeat in round 28 of the league.
Goals from H’Mida Salah and Laïd Saïdi gave the hosts a two-goal lead before Baakoh, who climbed off the bench in the last 15 minutes pulled one back for Khenchela late in the game.
The Ghanaian international entered the game in buoyant spirit after scoring in their 2-1 victory over RC Arbaâ on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old was comfortably one of his team’s brightest sparks on Saturday. He has now recorded 7 goals, 8 assists in 22 games for Khenchela in the Algerian league.
The hard-working midfielder is one of the most excellent players from West Africa competing in North Africa this season.
He has been a key figure for the Lions des Aurés since his arrival in August 2022.
