Cameroonian forward, Albert Diego Dieudonne Eonde has labelled Accra Hearts of Oak fans “demanding” as he reflected on the team’s abysmal performance in the immediate past season.
Albert, who joined the Phobians in February this year pleaded for patience from the club’s supporters and urged them to be with the team to get back to winning ways next season.
“We respect the fans for the energy and support. The fans are very demanding. We know they are demanding a lot from us and a performance that will make them happy. It is what we wish to do whenever we are on the pitch or get the chance,” he said during an interview with Ghanasportspage.com.
“Is our job and our passion. We don’t go there to lose games or to perform badly but as we say it is football. I guess most of us are almost new to the team but I believe with time everything will be okay.
“For the fans what that they need is the result but the players will need some time to know each other. It happens and we saw it all over the world. They said we have disappointed them but it is their own understanding. They can understand it that way and we won’t blame them for that. Our performance might not be good sometimes but they have to be with us so that we can give them the smile and what they deserve,” Albert ended.
The 25-year-old striker has since failed to open a goal account despite having featured prominently in the league matches.
Elsewhere, the club saw three different coaches complete a single season where they narrowly escaped relegation and are still in the market for a long-term replacement.
After parting ways with Samuel Boadu, Slavko Matic took over but saw his position taken by David Ocloo on an interim basis, allowing the club the time to find a permanent manager in time for the next campaign.
The team is currently searching for a new coach to take over the vacant coaching role ahead of the new campaign, which begins on 20th September.
