Retired Ghanaian footballer, Wilberforce Mfum says scouting is the biggest problem at Asante Kotoko.
The 1968 AFCON believes signing of average players has led to the poor displays by his former side.
According to him, none of the current players will qualify to play for the third team during their playing days.
“Our problem is scouting. It is the responsibility of the coach to look for good players and recommend them to the management but the current leaders will sign the players before they appoint a coach.
“Our style of scouting is not good. That’s our biggest problem because the current players will not even get the chance to play ‘Team C’ during our time but is all because of our stomachs,” says the retired footballer.
Wilberforce Mfum played for Asante Kotoko between 1962 and 1967. He was a member of the Ghanaian Olympic soccer team at the 1964 Summer Olympics.
He also scored two goals in the final of the 1963 African Cup of Nations as Ghana took the title. He was the second leading scorer at the 1968 African Cup of Nations as Ghana finished runner-up.
