Speaking exclusively to Ghanasportspage.com, Coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani disclosed why he was named as head coach of the national team B, the Black Galaxies despite serving as deputy coach of the Black Stars.
Coach Didi replaced Annor Walker, who left the role following the team’s poor performance at the 2023 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) tournament in Morocco.
The experienced coach has already invited four different sets of squads for screening, which started on Monday, July 17 at the Ghanaman Soccer Excellence at Prampram.
Explaining why he was appointed as the new head coach of the Black Galaxies, the former Kotoko coach said: “The Ghana Football Association engaged me alongside George Boateng and Chris Hughton after the World Cup and tasked me to be the head coach of the Black Galaxies so that we can be able to give the local content a certain level and give attention to the domestic leagues. That’s why I have been monitoring the Premier League, University games, second division, and first division across the league centers.
“And the idea is that we need to reconstitute the national team B (the Black Galaxies) that’s why I have grouped the players so that they will begin to have a certain culture, create a certain philosophy and then we create a certain style that will give them the opportunity to have the level of integration and adaptation at the top level,” he told Ghanasportspage.com.
Dramani has been officially involved in various domestic competitions attending Division One League matches as well as the Ghana Premier League.
He was also a success during his coaching days on the local scene when he led Asante Kotoko to back-to-back Ghana Premier League trophies in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons. He also won the FA Cup in the 2013/14 season.
